MESA EXHIBIT
HOME PAGE
The MESA Project is an ongoing project of the PreCalculus classes at Kettle Moraine
Lutheran High School. Adapted from the San Francisco Exploratorium and the New Trier High
School
Connections
Project, the MESA Project seeks to create a hands-on exploratorium of
exhibits that help teach math concepts, particularly as they apply to
science, art, and everyday life. Individual exhibits are set up
throughout the school year to coincide with applications across the high
school curriculum. At certain times during the year, the all of the
exhibits are put on display for the complete exploratorium experience.
Each year, the current PreCalculus students work in groups to create new
exhibits to add to the exploratorium. The students decide on the
concept they wish to research, carry out the research, design and build the
exhibit piece, and design web pages for their exhibit. Using their own
design or a design modeled on an exhibit from New Trier HS or from the San
Francisco Exploratorium's Cookbooks, the students create exhibit pieces that
explain the math or science concept they have researched so it can be
understood and experienced by people of all ages.
The links on the left lead to the web pages for each of the exhibits we
currently have in our exploratorium grouped by major category. For each
exhibit, there is a minimum of a Research page, a Construction page, and an
Exhibit Sign page. Many pages contain
links to other informative websites.
We hope you enjoy your trip through our on-line exploratorium!
